St Kilda Expeditions 2017

MV Cuma and the islands of St. Kilda - Click for a larger image

The St Kilda Sea Kayak Expedition is an exceptional experience and world class destination for those with some kayaking experience. Non-paddlers are also welcome if a partner or friend wishes to join the trip.

The archipelago of St Kilda is considered to be the most isolated and remote part of the British Isles, lying 64km north-west of Uist on Scotland's Outer Hebrides. The islands and their sea cliffs and stacs, which are the highest in the UK, form one of the most important breeding grounds for seabird species in Europe, notably Northern Gannets, Atlantic Puffins and Northern Fulmars.

The islands have been inhabited for at least two millennia and were only evacuated in the 1930s. The survival and history of its population, together with the exceptional landscape and abundance of wildlife has enabled St. Kilda to be designated a World Heritage Site with joint status for its outstanding natural and cultural qualities.

Full board accommodation is provided on the MV Cuma, which acts as our 'mother ship' for the week. The MV Cuma, with two fully qualified sea kayak instructors, will take us and our kayaks to these remote islands so that we can spend the maximum time exploring and taking in the breathtaking scenery and wildlife.

In addition to St Kilda we may also cruise and kayak the Monach Isles, Scarp, Taransay and the remote sea lochs on the west coast of Lewis and Harris.
